Like many in the USGS, I began my career as a summer student learning stream gaging, discrete water-quality sampling, sediment sampling, and lake sampling. Upon completing graduate school, I continued with the USGS as a Hydrologist performing investigative, water-quality studies. I developed use of continuous water-quality monitors to further our understanding of dynamic water-quality conditions and diurnal, primary-productivity, processes in river systems. Shortly after, I became the LDM for both Hydrologic Monitoring and Investigative Studies to assist with DBA (LDM) responsibilities, records analysis, approvals, and audits.
I'm currently with the NWIS Modernization Program Management Team looking to apply over 25 years of experience with many NWIS products in both database administration as an LDM, and as an end user of NWIS products serving as a project hydrologist for groundwater and water-quality. I continue to bring a Water Science Center view and understanding to the NWIS Modernization Program while facilitating the Telemetry Ingest and Field Software sub-programs. My latest effort, with the Observing Systems Division, for the NWIS Modernization Program is the Assessment and Improvement of NWIS Workflows.
