Jason graduated from East Carolina University in 1994 with a bachelor's degree in geology. He began working with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in 1995. During his career with the USGS, he has focused on groundwater and surface-water studies and data collection efforts, mostly in the Coastal Plain region of North and South Carolina. Jason has also managed many investigation projects focusing on hydrogeologic frameworks, water-quality assessments, and groundwater availability, as well as being the North Carolina Data Chief from 2018-2022. In 2022, Jason became the USGS National Ground Water Networks Coordinator where he leads the National Groundwater Monitoring Network and the Climate Response Network.
